It has been WAAAAY too long, I know. However, I've been busy writing my thesis (got an A, by the way...YAY!), finishing up my student teaching, applying for jobs, and finishing up paperwork. I am set to graduate this Saturday with an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education! I'm BEYOND excited and SO ready! I'm simply working on fighting the other 100 soon-to-be UTC school of education grads for teaching jobs. Sigh. I do, however, have an interview for a 2nd grade position at the school I just finished student teaching in tomorrow at 1pm. I am super nervous. So, I will be spending much of the night anticipating what questions they may ask. I'm hoping my nerves won't get the best of me and they can see how much I really want this job! Fingers crossed and prayers lifted up...
Here are a few pictures of what I've been up to lately:

I taught a "Things that Grow" unit during this placement. One of the books we read was
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl. We made handprint caterpillars as well as coffee filter butterflies and displayed them in the hall using a line from the text.

We explored different shades of green at the art easel while painting green fruits and veggies. Here is our garden of artwork!

I asked students, at the end of my part of the unit, to give me examples of things that grow. This is the web chart we made from that discussion.
I made blankets for my PreK kiddos as a going away gift. Many of them do not have blankets most (if not all) days for naptime. Most of them use towels as blankets. I wanted them to always have this blanket (at least until the end of the school year) to keep them snuggly warm during naptime, not leave them feeling left out for not having a blanket/towel, and to give them something to remember me (Mrs. "Handsome", as they like to call me) by.

I had some friends over tonight to decorate our mortar boards. I've never heard of doing that before UTC, but apparently it's a pretty popular thing to do now. I will not hesitate to jump into any creative opportunity! This one is what I came up with.
